As birthday treat my husband arranged for a week-end in one of our favourite hotels, The Residence. I suppose we can say that we are regular guests, we have been coming here for the past 10 years. It is an older property, but so well kept and the feeling is just so elegant.
I arrived on Friday afternoon with the kiddos. They are always excited to get to a hotel, discover the room and run around.
We are always well looked after, being return guests and all, to add to it we were upgraded for the occasion. And Wow! what a suite. A two bedroom elegant and well adjusted suite – just beautiful! The four poster bed, the champagne, the spa treatment… everything was just so great.
The pool area is not that big, but the water is warmed up and is very nice. The kids were able to stay a long time in the water, having lots of fun!
Their beachfront is paradise: a huge stretch of white and fine sand. A stunning lagoon, endless walks in shallow water, where lots of small fish swim around. The beach in Belle Mare is one of the best on Mauritius – and one of my personal favourites.
This morning for breakfast I even got a little cake.
If you are looking for a luxury, low key hotel, this is it. Families are very welcome, they have a small, but well appointed kids club, great water sports.

What a delightful hotel, being upgraded to a suite for your birthday too looked perfect. Mauritius looks beautiful and the beach a perfect setting. Have pinned as would love to stay here!
