School run and the ‘un’-fortunate encounter

I spend quite a lot of time on the road for schoolrun everyday. Give or take a few minutes, 4 hours. And obviously anlot of things happen.

Good things like being able to buy awesome vegetables from ladies who have small stands in front of their houses.

And then, things like today.

4 small puppies, abadonned on the side of the road.

Mauritius has a big problem with stray dogs and some irresponsable persons decide that it is easier not to sterilise their animals and then the offsprings are left on the side of the road. Very sad.

Anyways here we are tonight. I have a small revolution at home! Our cat, Sparkles is not happy with the puppies. Our dog, DJ, wants to carry them everywhere and the puppies don’t think that’s funny. The husband does not want them. The kids are crying because we can’t keep them.

There isn’t much to do with these small things on the island. You can try to advertise their misfortune on the local facebook pages and see if you are lucky enough. MOtherwise there is PAWS, Protection of Animals Welfare Society. They work hard on providing a better life to all our 4 legged friends.

I wish we could keep them and give them the life they deserve. But we can’t. We don’t know for how long we will be here and it’s just not realistic.

They have been named by the kiddos though: double and trouble, fluffy and toffee.
